Ancient Tofu

We love tofu! It can be such a moldable protein that adapts to YOUR needs! Gotta like that. It will take on whatever flavour, whatever texture you want it to, no questions asked. One of our fav's, pan frying. 

- 1/4 cup soy sauce

- 2 tbsp rice vinegar

- 1 tbsp black vinegar

- 1 Tbsp Ancient Chinese Secret spice blend

- 1 tsp sesame oil

- 1/3 cup corn starch

- 8 oz extra firm tofu

- oil, such as vegetable

 

Cut your tofu into 1/4" thick slices. Set aside in a shallow bowl.

 

Combine soy sauce, rice vinegar, black vinegar, Ancient Chinese Secret spice blend and sesame oil in a small bowl and mix well. Pour on top of tofu slices and allow to marinate for at least an hour. 

 

Heat a large pan on medium high heat and splash in a thick coating of oil, wait for it to get hot. Working with one at a time, coat your tofu in corn starch, tapping off any excess. Add you tofu in a single layer in the pan and brown on both sides, usually just a couple minutes. Remove to a plate lined with paper towel and continue until all tofu has been cooked. 

 

Use the marinade left behind to drizzle over top! Enjoy alone as a side dish or toss with some greens to make a salad.
